Radiation Safety Office

BIOASSAYS

In order to ensure the health and safety of individuals working with certain nuclides (H-3, I-125 and I-131) which may be taken into the body, the Radiation Safety Office (RSO) operates a bioassay program. Bioassays are conducted to obtain an estimation of the radiation dose received by the body from the concentration of these internally-deposited radionuclides.

It is the responsibility of each authorized user to ensure that the required bioassays are both scheduled with the RSO and subsequently completed.
